In the year 1268 DR, Astarion was still alive and well, working towards his goals as a magistrate in Baldur's Gate.

A chance encounter with a bard, makes him realize something about the song she's playing sounds familiar, but his memories are clouded when he tries to recall anything about her or the tune.

After a week of trying to track her down to uncover why she feels familiar, he finally makes contact with her within the walls of Sharess' Caress.

After years of being kept from Baldur's Gate and hidden away, Velyndel has been summoned back to return to the shadow of her older brother, Mazrieth, and do his bidding. Her first task is to lure Astarion into a trap to set the motions for his downfall as a corrupted magistrate.

Mazrieth is the leader of the Shadow Ravens, a group of mercenaries known for their ruthless disregard of rules and laws. Over the past several years since becoming a Magistrate, Astarion has had several run-ins with both Mazrieth and his followers, unaware of their past connections.
